Surgical replacement of vessels can take place using various biomaterials. The problem is that the available materials cannot replicate the natural vessel architecture. On the one hand, blood loss must be limited, and on the other hand, blood obscures the view of the surgical area. In certain surgical areas, the choice falls on topological hemostats. In our experience, a variety of factors affect the degradation behavior. Bacterial contamination in the wound cavity is one of the main causes leading to a change in the resorption profiles of our products. Treatment is difficult and often associated with long-term, significant disadvantages for the patient, including amputations.
